YOUTH BOOST – SUPPORTING TALENTED YOUNG PEOPLE ACROSS TARANAKI

HELPING YOUNG TALENT THRIVE

Over the past four years, more than $50,000 has been channelled through Youth Boost, helping ambitious school-age students in Taranaki pursue their passions in sport, music, art, and academics. Pioneered by Brendon Back and Brent Taylor from Taranaki Steelformers, this initiative was created to give back to the province and support young people who may struggle to fund training or participation in their chosen activities.

“Youth Boost is a great way for us as a company to give back to the province and support 24 young people each year to follow their dreams, while at the same time taking a little bit of the financial burden away from parents or guardians,” Brendon says.

  • Every month, school-age students from Taranaki can apply for a $500 grant.
  • Currently, a total of $2,000 is given away monthly, with plans to expand as more donors and partners join.
  • Students excelling in sport, music, art, academics, or other pursuits are eligible.
  • Winners are drawn each month to receive their $500 grant.
