Maintenance
Taranaki Steelformers roofing and cladding products are subject to the cumulative effects of weather, dust and atmospheric debris "Careful and regular maintenance" will extend the useful life of these products. (see chart below)
The minimum degree of maintenance expected is:
- Manual washing is recommended for areas that are not receiving adequate rain washing, ie. soffits, underside of verandas, gutters, fascia, garage doors etc. these will require regular cleaning with water and a soft-bristled brush to reduce the attack from aggressive deposits.
- Surfaces are not to be in continuous contact with moisture and all debris are to be removed (this applies mainly to gutters).
- With the first sign of surface corrosion the affected area should be cleaned down, spot primed and repainted any fixings that have deteriorated sufficiently to cause a leakage should be replaced.
- Over time fading will occur making it necessary to overpaint if the aesthetic value is to be retained.
